Learn Chinese – 花架子 Showy Structure

Learn Chinese – 花架子 Showy Structure

花 hua 架 jia 子 zi Showy Structure
A certain 'scholar' once claimed to know the secret to a trade that was popular in the province where he grew up. He claimed he could teach the people in a new town textile making.
He drew an elaborate scheme that in the end did not work. However, he caused the people to think that they were too stupid.
Later he was found out. He was the one who had only book knowledge, and not enough of that.
The phrase means something that is dazzling to the eyes but has no practical value.
It seems appropriate to not too many products that we find advertized.
They look good, but what good are they?

Learn Chinese – 敲竹杠- Rapping Bamboo Poles

Learn Chinese – 敲竹杠- Rapping Bamboo Poles

敲 qiao 竹 zhu 杠 gang – Rapping Bamboo Poles
A man in old China was almost caught trying to smuggle opium in his bamboo poles when a simple bumpkin took his pipe and rapped it on the poles just as a customs official walked by.
The smuggle paid off the bumpkin who was totally unaware of why he was being asked to not bang his pipe on his poles.
The expression came to symbolize extortion or fleecing money from someone who is in a precarious position and needs to pay money to cover themselves.
There are lots and lots of corrupt officials in China, especially officials with mistresses who are having their 'bamboo poles rapped' by their, um, ladies.

Why learn Chinese?

1. Chinese is the language of nearly 1/4 of the World’s Population. Speakers of Chinese not only live in China, Taiwan, and Singapore, but also spread throughout Southeast Asia, North America, and Europe, where large Chinese communities congregate.

2. Learn Chinese to get ahead in the business world. With the rapid economical development, China’s position on the international stage is getting more and more important. To take advantage of this huge economic shift and opportunities, learning Chinese is a great way to take an advantage in the increasingly competitive business world. Proficient speakers of Mandarin Chinese will find jobs in various fields such as business, government, international relations, information technology, tourism, education, translation and so on. Of all foreign languages at American universities and colleges, Chinese shows the highest proportional increase in enrollment. Los Angeles Chinese Learning Center, on the other hand, provides Chinese class at flexible schedule for working adults at reasonable rates.

3. Learn Chinese to have a wonderful trip. If you’ve been bitten by the travel bug and you want to go somewhere where you can experience a completely different culture. You also want to go somewhere where you can see some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the world. But then you’d also love to see ancient buildings, temples and architecture. You’ll probably have to go to so many countries to see and experience all of this, right Wrong! You can cover all of the above in China. China is bursting with so much culture with its fifty six ethnic groups. You also have stunning scenery in Tibet, Xinjiang and most of south China. Historic sites are in every single province in China. There’s so much to do, so much to see, and too much too experience. But to get the most out of traveling around China you really should at least learn travel Chinese. It will help make your trip smoother and possibly cheaper. So what are you waiting for? Learn Chinese, organize your visa, get your shots, take your malaria pills and come to China now!

4. Learn Chinese to taste delicious food. China covers a large territory and has many nationalities, hence a variety of Chinese food with different but fantastic and mouthwatering flavor. China’s local dishes have their own typical characteristics. There is succulent tender lamb in Inner Mongolia and Ningxia. Peking duck with its mouthwatering sauce awaits you in Beijing. There are also flaming hot spicy dishes in Sichuan which will numb your taste buds for a month and the sweet, sweet dishes of Jiangsu province which will spike your insulin levels in seconds. “Enjoy yourself to the max and try everything at least once.” If you can speak Chinese, it will be much easier for you to enjoy the dishes.

5. Learn Chinese out of interest for the Chinese Language, Culture and Customs. To fully understand the Chinese people and their culture it is necessary to learn Chinese and have a good understanding of the structure of the language. Just like many other languages, the Chinese language contains a lot of words and expressions that reflect traditions, values and ideas that have been passed on from generation to generation. Chinese culture is full of amazing.

6. Learn Chinese to challenge yourself. Chinese is not an easy language for most western people to learn and it can certainly be seen as an academic and linguistic challenge. Although Chinese does not have conjugations, declinations, articles, tenses and so on, its writing system and four tones of pronunciation are rather challenging for Westerners. It’s definitely a challenge to learn Chinese, but with the right method, anybody can do it!
